Samsung Electronics announced on June 15 that it is publicly recruiting startups for the 9th round of its C-Lab Outside program, aimed at discovering companies with growth potential and unique capabilities.

C-Lab Outside is a prominent open innovation program that supports domestic startups in expanding their connections with Samsung Electronics and exploring new business collaboration opportunities. Samsung will assist selected startups with business meetings and technology validation (Proof of Concept) with relevant divisions, seeking concrete collaboration plans.

The number of startups conducting Proof of Concept with Samsung has been steadily increasing. According to Samsung, more than half of the 30 startups from last year's 8th round, specifically 17 companies, explored collaboration possibilities through PoC.

Startups from the 8th round are currently engaged in PoC projects. Notable examples include ConfigIntelligence, a physical AI data construction firm; Exarion, a deep tech company; and ImpactiveAI, a demand forecasting specialist using artificial intelligence, all of which are working with Samsung on projects related to data acquisition, business collaboration, and enhancing demand forecasting models.

Selected startups will receive consulting programs covering technology, product development, organizational management, and marketing from Samsung employees. They will also receive support for participating in global exhibitions, such as CES in the United States, to aid in overseas market entry and promotional activities. Additionally, various benefits will be provided, including business support of up to 100 million won without equity acquisition, dedicated workspace, and free transfer or usage rights of Samsung patents.

The application period runs from June 15 to June 26. The recruitment covers eight fields: AI, digital health, content and services, robotics, materials and components, IoT, mobility, and ESG. A total of 30 companies will be selected through this recruitment process.

The 9th round recruitment will take place simultaneously in four regions: Seoul, Daegu, Gyeongbuk, and Gwangju. Eligible applicants must be startups registered as corporations in South Korea and at the Series B investment stage or below. Final selected companies will be announced in November after passing through various evaluation stages.

Lee Byung-chul, head of Samsung Electronics' Creative Development Center, stated, "For startups, having the opportunity to validate and expand their technological capabilities is as important as the technology itself. Through C-Lab Outside, we will support the growth of promising domestic startups."
