JW Pharmaceutical's dyslipidemia treatment, Rivarojet, has demonstrated its market competitiveness through its efficacy and safety.
On June 16, JW Pharmaceutical announced that Rivarojet 2/10mg achieved the highest sales in the two-drug combination market (statin and ezetimibe) in April.
According to the market research firm Ubiest, Rivarojet 2/10mg recorded sales of 8.8 billion won, capturing a market share of 6.59%. This marks an increase from 8.4 billion won in sales and a 6.32% market share in December of the previous year.
Rivarojet is the first domestic two-drug combination reformulation that combines the dyslipidemia treatment components pitavastatin and ezetimibe. It helps reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels by inhibiting cholesterol production in the liver and absorption in the intestine.
Notably, it ranked first in sales across major healthcare institutions, including general hospitals and clinics, as well as in key medical departments such as neurology and endocrinology. In the general hospital channel, sales reached 4.5 billion won with a market share of 8.02%, while the clinic channel reported sales of 3.6 billion won and a market share of 5.18%.
This success is attributed to the LDL-C control effects and safety of the pitavastatin component, as well as the competitive edge of the original combination product.
In a mid-term analysis of the 'VICTORY Study,' which evaluated the long-term efficacy and safety of Rivarojet in 1,400 Koreans, the median LDL-C levels significantly improved, with no notable changes observed in patients' fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels.
JW Pharmaceutical is strengthening its competitiveness in the dyslipidemia treatment sector by expanding its lineup of pitavastatin-based combination products, including the original single-agent Rivaro. Recently, it launched Rivarojet 1/10mg, which combines 1mg of pitavastatin and 10mg of ezetimibe for patients requiring low-dose statin therapy or additional LDL-C control after previous single-agent treatment. This is expected to provide a tailored option for patients who require dose adjustments or are sensitive to medications.
A JW Pharmaceutical representative stated, "The clinical value of Rivarojet has been recognized in the medical field, and we will continue to provide evidence for patients requiring long-term LDL-C management."
