Kakao announced on June 30 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Law&Company and Hana Financial TI on June 10 at the Law&Company building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, to expand legal e-document services.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Jeong-beom, leader of Kakao's Wallet Tribe; Jeong Jae-sung, vice president of Law&Company; and Park Yong-hae, head of Hana Financial TI. The three companies plan to establish a secure distribution and storage system for legal documents while enhancing user convenience in the digital legal service environment.

This MOU was established in connection with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency's (KISA) initiative for the "2026 National Mobile E-Certification Expansion Project." Kakao will collaborate with Law&Company, which has been selected as the lead agency for the project as a certified electronic document intermediary. Hana Financial TI will participate as the operator of the certified electronic document center.

KISA has selected and commissioned ten major tasks for mobile e-certification through a public participation budget system. This year's project is currently in its first demonstration and commercialization phase, evaluating service application outcomes based on performance indicators for each task in both public and private sectors.

Kakao will provide a channel for sending and receiving electronic documents based on KakaoTalk. Legal documents prepared by lawyers on Law&Company's legal service platform, LawTalk, will be delivered to recipients via KakaoTalk's e-document service. Law&Company will use AI to draft legal documents based on user input, which will then be reviewed by a lawyer before being sent using mobile e-certification methods. Related documents will be stored at Hana Financial TI's certified electronic document center.

Lee Jeong-beom, leader of Kakao's Wallet Tribe, stated, "Through this agreement, we are officially expanding the use of KakaoTalk's e-document service into the legal sector. We will strive to enhance user convenience and provide a more secure environment for using electronic documents through the digital transformation of legal documents."

Meanwhile, Kakao, as a certified electronic document intermediary designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT, provides electronic document services to over 480 public, financial, and private institutions.
