CJ Logistics is launching a social contribution campaign that utilizes its nationwide logistics network to collect clothing and household items donated by customers, with proceeds going toward creating jobs for individuals with developmental disabilities.
On July 1, CJ Logistics announced that it is conducting a customer participation donation campaign called 'We Are Coming' in collaboration with Woori Financial and the Milal Welfare Foundation until the end of this month.
This campaign follows a memorandum of understanding signed in April by the three organizations to support the independence of individuals with developmental disabilities and promote a culture of giving.
Customers wishing to participate can gather unused clothing, accessories, and household items, then apply to donate through the campaign banner on CJ Logistics' One App or the Woori WON Banking application.
CJ Logistics will collect the donated items from participating customers and transport them to Goodwill stores. Woori Financial will manage the online donation channel and promote the campaign, while the Milal Welfare Foundation will sort the received items for sale at Goodwill stores nationwide.
The revenue from sales will be used to provide stable job opportunities and support for the independence of individuals with developmental disabilities. Goodwill stores sell items donated by individuals and businesses, using the proceeds to employ people with disabilities in vocational rehabilitation facilities.
Currently, approximately 500 individuals with developmental disabilities are employed at 49 Goodwill stores across the country. The three organizations expect that this campaign will lead to the hiring of about 50 additional individuals with developmental disabilities over the next year.
To encourage more donations, a prize event will be held. During the campaign, 200 customers who donate items will be selected to receive CJ gift certificates and Goodwill donation merchandise.
A CJ Logistics representative stated, "We decided to participate in this campaign so that small donations from customers can lead to greater social value through our logistics network. We will continue to expand our ESG activities in collaboration with local communities using CJ Logistics' logistics capabilities."
