Samsung Electronics is launching a musical content service through its ad-supported free streaming service, Samsung TV Plus. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility to performances and bridge the experience gap based on viewing environments.

According to Samsung Electronics, the first production to be streamed is the original Korean performance of the Tony Award-winning musical 'Maybe Happy Ending.' Set in a future apartment designed for 'helper bots,' the lyrical story follows an outdated robot, 'Oliver,' and 'Claire' as they learn about love.

The first broadcast will begin on July 12 and will air every Sunday at 7 p.m. on Samsung TV Plus's exclusive channel STN until August 16.

On August 15, which is Liberation Day, the national musical 'Hero,' depicting the independence struggle of Ahn Jung-geun, will be featured. Additionally, on September 27, during the Chuseok holiday, 'Crash Landing on You,' which explores the romance between a South Korean chaebol heiress and a North Korean officer, will be showcased, with plans to release representative musical works monthly.

To maximize viewer immersion, the musical content will utilize two key technologies: 'multi-camera' and 'Eclipse audio.'

The multi-camera feature provides four simultaneous viewpoints of the stage, allowing viewers to select their preferred angle. This enables a focused experience on specific actors or scenes, differentiating it from traditional theater viewing.

Eclipse audio employs IAMF-based spatial audio technology, a form of 3D audio, to clearly convey the actors' dialogue and vocals while also recreating the ambiance of the audience's cheers, enhancing the live performance feel.

Lee Gwi-ho, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business, stated, "We have brought the emotional experience of the theater into the living room through Samsung TV Plus," and emphasized, "We look forward to a new viewing culture that Samsung will create."
