The government is hosting a series of informational sessions for 13 metropolitan and local governments to introduce the revamped Regional Revitalization Investment Fund and identify new projects.

On October 15, the Ministry of Economy and Finance held the '2026 Regional Revitalization Investment Fund Roadshow' at Jeonbuk Technopark.

The Regional Revitalization Investment Fund is a new investment approach that utilizes private capabilities and capital to promote sustainable projects desired by local regions. The fund is established with contributions from government finances, the fund for responding to population decline, and the Korea Development Bank, allowing local governments and private entities to form sub-funds and establish project special purpose companies (SPCs) to carry out various revitalization projects worth at least ten times the amount invested by the main fund.

The '2026 Regional Revitalization Investment Fund Roadshow' consists of on-site education and consulting sessions. Starting in Jeonbuk on the 15th, the roadshow will continue until November 5, covering 13 metropolitan and local governments by region.

The roadshow includes educational sessions and tailored consulting sessions. The educational sessions will cover the main changes to the fund this year, an introduction to the mandatory investment main fund, and analysis of project case studies. After the educational portion, the consulting sessions will assist local governments in reviewing the fund application requirements and procedures for their proposed projects, as well as conducting feasibility assessments and creating checklists.

About 60 officials from Jeonbuk's metropolitan and local governments, as well as related organizations, attended the roadshow, showing significant interest in the Regional Revitalization Investment Fund.

A Jeonbuk official stated, "Through the roadshow, we were able to understand the revamped Regional Revitalization Investment Fund and concretize the feasibility of projects through on-site consulting. We will actively seek to discover projects that reflect local characteristics in the future."

A Ministry of Economy and Finance official remarked, "We will continue to operate the Regional Revitalization Investment Fund effectively, expanding on-site education and consulting to ensure it serves as a strong support for regions facing challenges due to population decline and weakened industrial bases."
