Hyundai Engineering has secured the construction rights for the Yongsan Han River District redevelopment project in Seoul, surpassing a cumulative total of 13 trillion won in urban redevelopment contracts this year.
On November 1, Hyundai Engineering announced that it was selected as the final contractor during the general assembly for the Han River District urban redevelopment project held on October 31.
The project will cover a redevelopment area of 41,744 square meters in Yongsan District, specifically at 158 Han River 1-ga, and will include 456 residential units in buildings rising up to 36 stories, along with 125 officetel units and various commercial facilities. The total construction cost is estimated at 599 billion won.
Hyundai Engineering proposed the new complex name 'THE H AVELINE,' combining 'Avenue,' which signifies a road, and 'Line of Nature,' reflecting the area's unique characteristics that encompass Namsan, Yongsan Park, and the Han River.
The design of the complex will involve the global architectural design group UNStudio. All residential units will be oriented southward, with plans to enhance natural light and openness through flat and three-sided open layouts.
Specialized facilities, including a high-end community space called 'Club Aveline,' will also be developed. A street mall connecting Samgakji Station and Yongridang-gil will create a mixed-use space combining residential, office, and commercial functions.
With this contract, Hyundai Engineering's cumulative total for urban redevelopment projects this year has exceeded 13 trillion won, continuing its trend of securing high-end residential projects in major redevelopment areas of Seoul.
A Hyundai Engineering official stated, “The Han River District is a project site with excellent location and future value in Yongsan. We aim to provide the best living environment for residents based on the competitive strength of THE H brand and differentiated design, making it a landmark representing Yongsan.”
