US’ Clint Dempsey scores in just 32 seconds against Ghana

U.S. forward Clint Dempsey scored just 32 seconds into a Group G soccer match between the United States and Ghana of the 2014 FIFA World Cup at the Arena das Dunas in Natal, Brazil, Monday (local time). The United States won the game 2-1.

It was the fifth fastest goal in World Cup history, and the fastest goal in the Brazil World Cup tournament so far.

Turkey's Hakan Sukur scored the fastest goal in World Cup history, against South Korea during the Korea-Japan FIFA World Cup in 2002. He scored after only 11 seconds.

Vaclav Masek of Czechosolvakia scored against Mexico in just 16 seconds in 1962. Germany’s Ernst Lechner scored in 25 seconds against Austria in 1934, and Bryan Robson of England scored against France in 27 seconds in 1982.
