South Korea moved up a notch to 56th place in the latest FIFA world rankings, despite its poor performance at the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

South Korea failed to advance to the round of 16 as it went winless in matches in Group H, its worst World Cup performance since 1998. It finished the tournament last in Group H with two losses and a draw.

Japan, which finished last Group C with two losses and a draw in Brazil, placed 45th, up a notch from a month earlier, becoming the top-ranked nation among the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) member states.

Iran moved down six notches to 49th, while Australia nosedived 14 spots to 76th. Both nations also went winless in Brazil.

Uzbekistan moved up seven notches to 52nd, despite its failure to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.
