Choi Kyung-ju and Pak Se-ri, who are respected for paving the path for young South Korean golfers to have a growing contingent on the US Tour, have been selected as coaches for the country's national team for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August.

Choi, 45, has claimed eight PGA Tour titles since he earned a PGA Tour membership in 1999, including the Players Championship in 2011. He now puts much of his efforts into nuturing young golfers and led the 2015 Presidents Cup International Team as vice captain.

Pak, 38, has won 25 LPGA titles including five majors, inspiring many Korean women including Par In-bee to follow suit. She qualified for the Hall of Fame at 29 and became the youngest person ever to be inducted.

In Rio, 60 men and 60 women golfers will compete. No more than four golfers can come from any one country, but when a country has more than four players in the top 15, it can send up to four men and women respectively.

The International Golf Federation will releases its global player rankings in early July. In the men's rankings, Ahn Byeong-hun is now ranked 17th and Kim Kyung-tae 29th. The world's top 15 women golfers include Park In-bee, Ryu So-yeon, Kim Sei-young and Yang Hee-young.
