KB Financial Group is launching tailored financial support for gig workers, including delivery riders and drivers. These workers have faced challenges accessing traditional financial services due to irregular income and limited credit histories. The group plans to introduce a range of financial services, including savings accounts, loans, credit cards, and insurance, specifically designed for gig workers.

On June 30, KB Financial announced that it will gradually roll out customized financial services reflecting the income patterns and economic activities of gig workers through its main subsidiaries, including KB Kookmin Bank, KB Kookmin Card, and KB Insurance.

The 'KB Free N Account,' a dedicated account for gig workers launched by KB Kookmin Bank, is designed to help manage income from various sources, such as platform payments. It offers a special interest rate of up to 1.4% for average balances of up to 2 million won.

In the third quarter of this year, KB Financial plans to collaborate with the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency to provide microfinance options for young gig workers. This initiative will support up to 5 million won for purchasing delivery motorcycles.

Additionally, a new mobile plan tailored for delivery riders will be introduced under KB Liv Mobile. This plan will feature two high-data options at reasonable base rates, catering to the data-intensive needs of riders using navigation and delivery apps.

KB Kookmin Card will also launch a dedicated check card reflecting the consumption patterns and lifestyles of gig workers. The 'KB On the Go Check Card' will offer discounts on fuel, communication fees, and food, along with insurance premium discounts for delivery riders through KB Insurance.

KB Insurance is currently operating a 'Rider Safety Education Discount Program' aimed at promoting safe driving culture among motorcycle delivery workers. This program offers a 5% discount on auto insurance premiums for riders who complete online safety training provided by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.

A KB Financial representative stated, "Gig workers are emerging as a new economic force driving the platform economy and digital transformation, becoming an important customer group for future finance. We aim to broaden the scope of inclusive finance through customized financial services that reflect diverse income forms and economic activities."
