JTI Korea is stepping up to support local communities in preparation for the rainy season.
On June 15, JTI Korea announced that it will implement a flood damage prevention support project focused on areas across the country that are at risk of flooding due to heavy summer rains.
In response to the increasing frequency of damage caused by heavy rainfall, JTI Korea has partnered with the nonprofit organization Happy People to identify areas in need of practical assistance, particularly in regions prone to recurrent flooding.
On June 11, JTI Korea held a material delivery ceremony at its headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where it provided hygiene products, dehumidifiers, and daily necessities to the Seoul Station Homeless Center. These items will be stored in the 'Warm Storage' facility within the Seoul Station homeless community for residents to use as needed.
Additionally, JTI Korea plans to provide further financial support to Happy People and will deliver flood prevention and recovery supplies, such as flood bags, large fans, and hoses, to residential areas at risk of flooding in Incheon and Gwangju by the end of this month. This initiative aims to help create a safer living environment for local residents and facilitate a swift return to normalcy.
JTI Korea has been collaborating with the Seoul Station Homeless Center for the past five years, consistently engaging in efforts to support vulnerable populations.
Previously, in September of last year, JTI Korea provided cultural activity funding and daily necessities to the Seoul Station Homeless Center. In October, it also supported an outing for elderly residents of the Seoul Station homeless community to Jeju Island in Hwaseong City.
Irina Lee, President of JTI Korea, stated, "As climate change leads to repeated heavy rainfall and flooding, the burden on local communities is increasing. I hope this support contributes to enhancing disaster response capabilities and resilience, and we will continue to engage in ongoing social contribution activities in collaboration with the community."
