SEOUL, September 29 (AJP) - Samsung Electronics displayed congratulatory videos for Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang in New York's Times Square following his selection as a recipient of the 2026 James A. Van Fleet Award, according to the company on Tuesday.
The videos ran on Times Square billboards from 6 p.m. Sunday through Monday, highlighting Huang's leadership and contributions to the artificial intelligence industry under four themes — "Pioneer," "Architect," "Builder" and "Friend."
The James A. Van Fleet Award is presented annually by The Korea Society to individuals or organizations that have contributed to strengthening ties between South Korea and the United States. Huang was selected for his role in advancing AI and accelerated computing and fostering cooperation between the two countries' AI and semiconductor industries.
Samsung and Nvidia have worked together across memory and system semiconductors and are expanding their partnership in AI. Samsung is also combining Nvidia's accelerated computing and digital twin technologies with its semiconductor manufacturing capabilities as part of its push to build an "AI Factory" spanning research, design and production.
Samsung's late Chairman Lee Kun-hee received the Van Fleet Award in 2006 for his contributions to economic cooperation and bilateral relations between South Korea and the United States.
