James Kim, president of Microsoft Korea, has been elected as new chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Korea, the AMCHAM Korea said.
It was the first time that a Korean-American has been elected to head the AMCHAM Korea since it was founded 60 years ago.
Kim, 51, will assume the post on Jan. 1, 2014. He is to replace incumbent chairperson Patrick Gaines, president of Boeing Korea, for a one-year term.
Kim has served as Microsoft Korea chief since 2009.
He received an MBA from Harvard University, after graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles, with an economics degree.
