The new company, LG Sinar Mas Technology Solutions, aims to leverage the strengths of both parent companies to provide advanced data center services, cloud migration, and digital transformation solutions, LG said. The venture also plans to expand its offerings to include smart city development and financial IT services.
The launch event on Tuesday was attended by LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-gyoon and Sinar Mas Chairman Franky Oesman Widjaja.
Headquartered in Jakarta, the joint venture will be led by Han Dong-hyup, former head of LG CNS's Indonesian and Chinese operations.
According to global research firm Gartner, Indonesia's IT market is expected to reach about 9.4 trillion won ($7 billion) by 2027, presenting significant growth opportunities for the new joint venture.
LG CNS has been building its digital transformation expertise through various projects in Indonesia, including smart city design consulting for the new capital Nusantara, the Core Tax Administration System (CTAS) implementation, and light rail transit facility projects in the Jakarta metropolitan area.
