SEOUL, August 12 (AJP) - Seoul's water ferry service along the Han River will expand its nighttime operations starting this weekend, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said Wednesday.
Two additional departures from Jamsil in southern Seoul to the financial district of Yeouido in western Seoul will be available at 6:50 p.m. and 7:20 p.m., while routes connecting Yeouido and Magok, a newly developed neighborhood in far western Seoul, will also have departures at 8:25 p.m. and 8:55 p.m.
The city said increasing departures during evening hours is part of its efforts to boost nighttime tourism and leisure activities for not only tourists but also Seoul residents after work.
It added that riders can enjoy Seoul's skyline and the shimmering scenery of the Han River as fading daylight gives way to a sea of city lights.
More departures are also planned on some routes during daytime hours, with the city government expecting the additional services to boost spending and consumption in nearby neighborhoods.
"Nighttime services will allow riders to enjoy a different side of Seoul," said Park Jin-young, a city official, adding that the city will continue to improve the service so residents can use it "more conveniently and pleasantly with safety as the top priority."
