LG Household & Health Care has introduced an artificial intelligence (AI) autonomous cleaning robot to manage cleaning tasks in its large warehouse.

Serim Robotics, a company specializing in industrial robots, announced that it has supplied its AI autonomous cleaning robot, DUSTY, to LG Household & Health Care's warehouse.

The expansive warehouse frequently sees the movement of goods, forklifts, and workers, necessitating continuous management of dust and debris on the floor. However, the large workspace and complex pathways have limited the efficiency of traditional, labor-intensive cleaning methods.

DUSTY utilizes LiDAR-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), visual-based localization (VSLAM), 3D depth sensors, and AI cameras to recognize its surroundings and obstacles. It is designed to slow down, stop, or find alternative routes when workers or forklifts approach its path, thereby reducing the risk of collisions.

Additionally, the AI camera identifies trash and debris on the floor, and with dual disc brushes and a 35-liter collection bin, it can effectively clean large areas. This automation of repetitive cleaning tasks allows workers to focus on logistics operations.

This deployment illustrates how industrial cleaning robots are evolving beyond mere cleaning equipment to become smart logistics solutions that enhance cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency in the workplace.

Meanwhile, DUSTY is also being utilized for cleaning tasks at construction sites for POSCO E&C, expanding its range of applications. Serim Robotics plans to broaden the supply of AI autonomous cleaning robots to warehouses and manufacturing facilities, further extending the application of cleaning automation solutions.
